The Rayalseema Food and Dance Festival is organized by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department to highlight the cuisine and culture of the Rayalseema area of the state. Rayalseema lies in Tirupathi in Chittor district of Andhra Pradesh. The festival is organized to coincide with the Brahmotsavam celebrations at Tirupati, which normally falls in the month of October.
The Brahmotsavam is a much awaited event in Tirupathi. During this 9-day festival, the idol of Lord Venkateswara is dressed up in different attire every day and carried through the streets on a palanquin. The entire city is decorated, and lakhs of devotees pour in to witness the grand event. The Rayalseema Food and Dance festival is organized during this time to take advantage of the heavy influx of tourists.
